Architects: Studio KDA, Marites Abueg and Vita Rey
Metro Lighting Designer: Lawrence Grown
Project: Arquet
We recently had the pleasure of designing and fabricating custom lighting for Arquet, the newest restaurant in San Francisco's Ferry Building designed by our longtime friends at Studio KDA.
At the heart of Arquet is Chef Alex Hong, previously the founding chef of the Michelin‑starred Sorrel, now leading this new venture with a vision of approachable Californian cuisine fired over a wood‑burning hearth. Alongside operations director Joel Wilkerson, Hong draws heavily on seasonal produce, coastal seafood and bold, simple flavors—whether it’s whole roasted fish fresh from the fire, or vegetables kissed with smoke and caramel.
A highlight of the project is the private dining room fixture, a one-of-a-kind collaboration between Lawrence from Metro Lighting and the late Helen Holt. This sculptural piece combines Helen’s artfully draped and handsewn fabric over a custom welded frame, creating a dramatic yet intimate centerpiece for the space.
Throughout Arquet, our lighting combines practicality with style—from the trio of custom pendants at the entry, to the line of pendants over the bar, to the softer lighting in the private dining room. Each piece contribute to the natural textures and materials of the refined and space.
