Designer: Jack Knowles, Patricia Dedekian, Lawrence Grown
Materials: Patinated brass, Prairie blown glass
Metal Finish: Dark brown patina
Lawrence worked extensively with restauranteur Jack Knowles to design the exquisitely modern handcrafted fixtures for Rumbo al Sur, Jack's project in the Glenview district of North Oakland. The goal was to have a familiarity of design for patrons of Jack's other restaurant, A Cote, but to also be uniquely styled for the new building. Inspired by other "wavy" metalwork on site, Lawrence designed unusual new fixtures that are subtle yet sculptural. Many shades and colors were sampled before designing the custom set of varied cylinder shades in burgundy and amber. The effect is like twigs glowing in the fireplace in a historic mission hotel. *Update: Sadly Rumbo al Sur is now closed.
